Where to Find the Snow

One of the best ways to spend vacation break is in the snow or snowboarding. Located in California is Mammoth Mountain off of highway 203. It has one of the best for the whole family to enjoy. With over 150 trails around the resort there is always something to do. With a good variety of terrain there is something for all snowboarders to be able to ride.  It has been rated by the World Snowboard Guide as a 10/10. The score is a 97% for freestyle and 80% for free riding, pistes, and beginners.

Another great place for everyone to enjoy is the Vail Ski Resort in Colorado. It has been rated as a 77% in free riding, 76% in free styling and a 75% in pistes. It has a reputation as one of the most prestigious ski resorts in America. Vail has over 5,000 acres of snowboarding terrain and 3 half pipes and 12 runs. The runs and half pipes and are all open to skiers but is mostly used by snowboarders.

Lastly Mount Bachelor is another great place to snowboard in Oregon. Mount Bachelor is located in the Cascade Mountain Range and has a unique shape to itself from the conical shape of the dormant volcano. The shape gives the snowboarder a 360° view of the mountain and the runs.
If you think you have a better snowboarding resort tell me about it and why it is better.

Watching the Colors Change

Just as the temperature starts to cool and the snow gear starts to come out, one of nature's most beautiful changes happen, the leaves change their color. I love to watch the colors change and some of the best places to see that around the states is the New England region. One of the best ways to do that is by driving.
Foresters, an expert in forestry, have reported that Vermont has started to show all of the colors. In the northern Champlain Valley the trees have been shining their colors for a while and is almost at the peak. More colors are going to continue changing in the Southern Valley as the week goes on.
If you were thinking about driving through the forest north to south then here are some routes to see the reds, yellows, and oranges. Route 242 from Montgomery to Jay, Route 302 through Orange, Groton, and Ryegate, Route 9 from Brattleboro to Bennington, Route 11 through Chester, Andover and Londonderry. Those are just some of the roads that will allow you to see all of the beautiful colors of fall.

Have you ever done a scenic drive through of a forest or just driven to look at the trees?

New Orleans Spooktacular Halloween

If you want to get your spook on then I have the perfect place for you. New Orleans is a spooktacular place to go and a family friendly city for all ages. It has many spooky places that you can visit, but here are some of the best spots to get your scare on.
There are haunted tours of the French Quarter and haunted houses in Uptown and the Garden District. Most haunted houses are advertised in the newspaper put on by churches, organizations, and private individuals. Some parental discretion is advised for some of the houses are too scary for young children. One place that is family friendly is the Audubon Zoo, which has it's annual "Boo at the Zoo" that involves trick or treating, entertainment, food, scary stories, a haunted house, rides, and the opportunity to get close to some of the zoo animals. Another place is the Louisiana Children's Museum and they host Halloween events and activities for younger children.

Voodoo shops are all along the French Quarter which helps enhance the spiritual feel of New Orleans. Some shops only give their service to vampires and sometimes plan special events for Halloween. There is also Voodoo music which is bringing in very popular names like, Florence + The Machine, Girl Talk, Ozzy Osbourne, DeadMau5.

Let me know if you have ever been to New Orleans and what your experience was like I'd love to hear your stories.

I love to travel with my family and going somewhere I have never been before. It excites me when I can get to go to places that I have seen in the movies. Also, to experience the place you have been to is what I think is one of the most important parts about traveling. The other important part about traveling is making memories, because there is always that lasting memory of some vacation that will never go away.
I am hoping to cover excessive planning vacations, road trips, spontaneous trips, and long term vacations. I think that these vacations are the broadest types of vacations there are. People should definitely read this blog because if anyone is thinking of a road trip, flying somewhere or taking a two week vacation, they will definitely be able to get ideas from me.
